Until yesterday I used a Logitech MX 518 mouse. That had several virtues, was well in hand, was easy ... but had the major disadvantage that you could use Mac OS X only four of the five buttons, the rest went to Cider (*) are lost.
The lack of control, and various discussions in the Mac User Forum in the now deleted Mythic forums drew my attention to the Razer Naga. It is interesting that this mouse has recently been promoted by Apple itself as a gaming mouse on its side. It's probably just coincidence, but I'm happy to back the idea that the discussion in the forums and my email to Transgaming (the manufacturer of cider and Cedega had to do) with it.
Whether you need something really is all up to you. There is also a piece of this placebo effect. It just feels a little better, whether it is really so much better than with a 10 € mouse is another question. I know that professional Counter Strike player preferably used notebook computer mice, not the high resolution, but deliberately kept low. But that would bring Warhammer not much.
Unlike not so much on precision, speed and light weight optimized mouse (such as the Emperor whose flat manufacturer), but a mouse that specifically aligned with the control requirements in MMOs. The victim, who brings it is weight, 142 grams it is heavier than its competitor, and it shows.
The mouse is suitable only for right-handed. There is left hand not to my knowledge. It is due to the arrangement of the buttons are not only difficult but quite impossible with the left hand to use reasonable.
The Naga is much better in hand than with the test mouse in a department store had the impression. If one takes from the top, standing up the mouse you do not really feel like ergonomically (For right-handed, as I said) it is. In other words: if I played with in a crouch and hold the mouse absolutely horizontal! If one sits in a good chair at a desk the correct height of the ring finger slides off alone into the side of the run with the mouse is under control and the index and middle fingers fit loosely on the curved buttons. This could be the fingers a little longer or shorter than mine, much wider the hand should not be.
The base had a single sliding "foot" with herself. Seems a bit harder and smoother than with the MX 518th How are scratch-resistant time will tell, it slides brand new but at least much easier (I use a coated metal Mouse Pad, also by Razer).
most striking unique feature is the number pad on the side. The mouse is identified in some cases actually a keyboard to the USB port so that the 12 buttons on the side are just from the perspective of the computer keyboard number pad to another. That is why it works without drivers on Mac OS X (and presumably also under Linux). Without drivers, however, does not the famous "fifth-click on Mac OS X. However, the driver can download from Razer: Razer driver download page
Then press ALT emulates +6. You can also adjust the sensitivity, the mouse, but can be run with such precision that I have left to maximum (5600 dpi). Whether this actually true 5600 dpi to be I do not know. However, I can definitely drive more each pixel, the mouse does not appear to jumps. It still requires a degree of concentration and is thus more demanding. Therefore I will not rule on the duration of the resolution to reduce something to be precise. was
In the context briefly mentioned that the invisible laser compared with the relatively simple optical mice previously little irritating added.
The scroll wheel is handy, but offers only minimal resistance to a lot of turning for my taste, the top of the keys is slightly rough-coated, so that one can also slip away from anything. The fourth and fifth button are somewhat ungüngstig next to the first, intended for the index finger. The keypad can be operated on the other hand really amazingly simple. With 12 keys I had imagined it harder. If you (like me) has not quite accustomed to the new assignment, the sandwich dial help enormously and you can see them easily with a quick squint in the corner of his eye.
the mouse cable I had almost forget the fact you realize how good it is. It is wrapped with cloth and not lose its angular changes completely when you unpack the mouse by the cord slightly cushioned and does not slide off the table. It can be almost impossible to slip somewhere and tension behind, pulling in fact only a portion of about 30 cm, with the rest is up to easily and without disturbing. We noticed it just almost never, as it should be.
Here one can clearly see the layout. The complete second bar, on which lies the bulk of the skills is strictly controlled by the mouse. As this technology is a numeric keypad are the abbreviations Num 1, Num 2, etc. The layout shown here is experimental and far from final.
Granted, in my first scenario I've had a few problems (Where now is enchanting beauty and lightness? Oh, already dead) but it came quite easily into a habit. To this end, extra stickers included recognition should make it easier to teach, which I have not tried though. The degree of additional control should, if one has only once played a two weeks so be enormous. I now really all I need for skills in hand without having to reach around and hand off the mouse or the AWSD to take keys.
What I think could be better: The fifth button would be easier to achieve if it were mounted on the side of the ring finger. The fourth and fifth button could have a significantly lower resistance. The mouse lights up quite brightly in the dark, even for a while yet is if the computer is in standby mode. Moreover, still worked the buttons of the mouse, but not the motion sensor when the computer woke from Standby mode. I had to start the first new. I have it now but have not tried with installed drivers.
also missing, as I said, a left-handed version.
Not really a disadvantage, but possibly a long-term problem is all the cracks, crevices which they arise by design, ergonomics, and the many buttons. If you like I do with a strong concentration tends to sweat, I can imagine that it is not easy to keep the thing clean. say
All in all I have: The first impression is that the mouse is actually the best one for MMOs with many different skills that you can buy an Apple computer. And by the way it offers even a number pad, which supplied the keyboards have not and without that it is a monstrous keyboard must stand up. This will be in applications such as Blender 3D extremely helpful. Thank Razer. In short: Even if it is not a gamer gets the most space-saving IF THE ABOVE number pad for the Mac, there is. Without the border buttons of course.
